PUIC Troika Meeting Lambasts Israeli Atrocities in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The inter-parliamentary troika meeting of the Parliamentary Union of Islamic Countries (PUIC) called Israeli crimes against Palestinians in Gaza as “flagrant manifestation of genocide”.

Parliament speakers and high-ranking lawmakers from ten Muslim countries who had gathered in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Tuesday evening issued a statement at the end of their one-day inter-parliamentary meeting.

“War and heinous crimes and mass killings of Palestinians are tantamount to blatant violation of international law,” said the PUIC Presidential Troika in a closing statement.

The speakers and senior MPs also called on the international community to take action to put an end to Israel’s atrocities.

The statement further noted that the seige on the Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip, is a clear violation of human rights. It also called for “an immediate removal of the siege and opening of all crossings particularly the Rafah border crossing.

The parliamentary officials asked the Egyptian government to accelerate the deployment of humanitarian assistance into Gaza through Rafah.

Parliament speakers from Mali, Palestine, Syria, Qatar, Turkey and Sudan along with three parliamentary delegations from Oman, Lebanon and Pakistan attended the event to discuss Tel Aviv’s recent offensive in Gaza.

Since July 8, Israel has been carrying out airstrikes as well as ground and naval invasion on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Around 650 Palestinians have been killed, while over 4,000 have also been injured in the coastal enclave.
