Iranian Speaker Hails Palestinian Resistance

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said the recent developments in the occupied Palestinian territories showed that the resistance movement is capable of countering the Israeli aggression.

“The resistance proved to be a live and growing movement,” Larinaji said in an address to a parliamentary commission in Tehran on Wednesday.

Israel thought it was able to thwart the operations of the resistant groups with its much-publicized Iron Dome missile system, but after the recent attacks by the resistance forces, its illusion was shattered, he reiterated.

He went on to say that the recent developments in the Gaza Strip showed that any Israeli onslaught on the besieged territory fuels insecurity throughout the occupied territories.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he emphasized that the Islamic Republic is ready to provide the injured Palestinians with medical treatment.

He also said that the crisis in Gaza has become an international issue and expressed the hope that joint efforts made by Islamic countries in this regard would ultimately lead to the liberation of Palestinian territories.

As Israel continues to bomb hundreds of targets in the Gaza Strip, hospitals are facing a shortage of medical supplies. Pre-existing shortages are being exacerbated by heightened need and by the border policies of the Egyptian government, which continues to restrict entry into Gaza.

On July 8, Israel launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip. After 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

Around 650 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,000 have been wounded in the 16-day Israeli onslaught.
