Iranian, Lebanese FMs Discuss Gaza Developments

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Basil, in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, conferred on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

The conversation between top Iranian and Lebanese foreign ministry officials came as Israeli onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip continued for 16th day.

On July 8, Israel launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip. After 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

The death toll in Gaza exceeded 650 and over 4,200 people were wounded as emergency teams pulled dead bodies from the rubble of homes destroyed by Israeli strikes on the 16th day of the assault.

As Israel continues to bomb hundreds of targets in the Gaza Strip, hospitals are facing a shortage of medical supplies. Pre-existing shortages are being exacerbated by heightened need and by the border policies of the Egyptian government, which continues to restrict entry into Gaza.
