Iran Urges Islamic Countries’ Action to Halt Israeli Aggression

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s foreign minister called on Islamic countries to take action to halt Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Mohammad Javad Zarif emphasized that Muslim countries should take action at regional and international levels to put an end to Zionist regime’s strikes on the Gaza Strip and prepare the ground for sending food and medical aids to the impoverished territory.

“The Zionist regime is abusing the situation (blockade on the Strip) to launch all-out attack on Gaza. Implementation of any ceasefire should meet Palestinians’ demands, particularly lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip. It must also guarantee that Israel will not repeat its military strikes on Gaza, he reiterated.

Zarif made the comments in a telephone conversation with his UAE counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The UAE foreign minister, for his part, expressed the hope that through cooperation of influential regional countries, there will be an immediate halt to Israeli attacks on people in Gaza.

Since July 8 when Israel started launching air strikes on the Gaza Strip, over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 6,000 have also been injured.

In response to Israeli violence, resistance groups in Gaza have been firing retaliatory rockets into the occupied Palestinian territories. The Palestinian Resistance rockets have for the first time reached cities as far as Haifa.

Zionist officials say more than 43 Israelis have been killed but Hamas puts the number of Israeli fatalities at 100.
