Iran’s Basij Nationwide Rallies to Mark Victory of Palestinian Resistance

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Basij (volunteer) Force plans to hold nationwide rallies on Friday in honor of the Palestinians’ victory against Israel after a seven-week war on the Gaza Strip.

Lieutenant Commander of Basij Forces for Operations General Nosratollah Seif on Wednesday congratulated “the brave fighters of Gaza’s battalions” on their victory over the Israeli regime, saying the Beitol-Moqaddas battalions of Basij will march across the country on Friday to voice their support for the Palestinian fighters.

He added that Basij forces will also attend Friday Prayers and announce their readiness to continue the resistance movement of the Palestinian fighters, particularly Gaza’s battalions until their “final victory and the collapse of the fake and child-murderer Zionist regime.”

On Tuesday evening, a ceasefire deal between Palestinians and Israel, which was mediated in Cairo, took effect, ending seven weeks of Israeli brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The truce, which signifies the victory of Palestinians over Israelis, called for an indefinite halt to hostilities, the immediate opening of Gaza's blockaded crossings with Israel and Egypt and a widening of the territory's fishing zone in the Mediterranean.

Palestinian health officials say 2,142 people, most of them civilians, including more than 490 children, have been killed in the enclave since July 8, when Israel launched an offensive on the coastal enclave of 1.8 million population.

A total of 69 people have been killed on the Israeli side, nearly all of them soldiers.

Thousands of homes in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed or damaged by the Israeli offensive.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights said 540,000 people had been displaced in the Gaza Strip.
