Iranian, Finnish FMs Discuss Bilateral Ties, Regional Issues

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Finnish counterpart Erkki Tuomioja in a meeting in Tehran exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues.

In the meeting on Sunday, Zarif emphasized the need for the broadening of relations between Tehran and Helsinki in diverse fields including economic cooperation between private sectors of the two nations.

The top Iranian diplomat also called for the reciprocal visits by the parliamentary groups from the two countries.

Referring to the “tough conditions” in the region in the wake of sectarian, violent and extremist moves, Foreign Minister Zarif urged serious efforts to counter the threats that the region and the world are now facing.

The Finnish diplomat, for his part, said his visit to Iran was of great significance given the current circumstances in the region.

Tuomioja held a separate meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday morning.
