Iran's President: Dialogue Sole Way to Reach Agreement

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani once again underlined that only a negotiated solution can resolve disputes over Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

Speaking to CNN on the sidelines of the 69th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday, President Rouhani said "threats and sanctions will lead nowhere" and the only way to reach an agreement is dialogue.

President also underlined that Iran is very serious in its nuclear talks with the group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany).

Referring to disagreements in nuclear negotiations, President said disagreements must be resolved as soon as possible to drive opportunities in line with the interests of the region and world.

After reaching an agreement, the sanctions should be lifted and Iran should have the right like the other NPT member states, he noted.

Elsewhere, the Iranian president also said the country was the first one that helped people of Iraq fight against Daesh (also known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) terrorist group.

Terrorism has become a major issue in the region, and all sides should give hands for a world free from violence and extremism, he added.
