Rouhani: Interaction with World Countries Key to Scientific Progress

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the country’s scientific progress depends on interaction with the rest of the world.

“The interaction with the world is not limited to the foreign policy. It should also include economy as well as science and technology,” said President Rouhani in an address to a gathering of Iranian academics and students at Tehran University.

The Iranian president also highlighted the need for better academic cooperation with world countries, and said Iran has already started talks with a major country to build an IT Park inside the country.

Earlier in August, Rouhani announced that his administration attaches great significance to scientific research and provides whatever financial support necessary to that end.

“The administration is not subject to any constraints on funding research activities, either in the field of applied research needed by the country or in the field of research at the boundary of knowledge, which is necessary for the country,” he said.
