Hamas Denies Reports of Saudi Objection to Iran Visit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A spokesman for the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, denied reports on Saudi Arabia’s objection to a recent visit to Iran by a Hamas delegation.

Reports that Saudi Arabia had called certain Hamas officials to protest at the visit are "groundless and incorrect", Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said on Thursday.

According to Ray al-Youm website, Abu Zuhri underscored that Hamas is keen to establish good relations with all Arab and Islamic states.

A high-ranking Hamas delegation headed by Mohammad Nasr visited Tehran last week to explore avenues of improving bilateral relations. During the visit, Nasr expressed the Hamas’ eagerness to enhance ties with Iran.

Earlier, head of Hamas movement’s foreign affairs Osama Hamdan had told the Tasnim News Agency that Khaled Mashaal, head of Hamas' political bureau, is likely to pay a visit to Iran.
