Iran’s President Felicitates Qatar National Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated Qataris on the Persian Gulf country’s National Day.

In a Saturday message, Rouhani congratulated Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the country’s government and nation on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day.

The Iranian chief executive highlighted the deep religious, historical and cultural ties between the two nations and expressed the hope that brotherly relations between Tehran and Doha would develop further.

He also wished health and success for the Emir of Qatar and the glory for the country’s government and nation.

Iran and Qatar have enjoyed friendly relations over the years. The two countries have in recent years sought to expand relations in different areas, especially economic and commercial fields.

Earlier this month, Iranian and Qatari labor ministers signed several memorandums of understanding as part of efforts to promote bilateral cooperation.

In July, Tehran and Doha announced plans to establish a joint free economic zone in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr and its adjacent provinces.

The two neighboring states also share the giant South Pars gas field, which is estimated to contain major amounts of gas and gas condensates.
