Businessman Asks for Tehran's Help in Suing Germany

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian businessman called for government’s assistance in legally pursuing his lawsuit against Germany over wrong imprisonment.

In a letter to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Yousef Pirzadeh requested for his government’s assistance in pursuing a lawsuit he has filed against the government of Germany.

He had been in Germany's jails for over 18 months for false accusations.

Pirzadeh, 45, was arrested on February 23, 2006 and sentenced to 18 months in prison on charges of “spying and arms smuggling.”

But Pirzadeh denied the charges and described the verdict as a politically motivated decision.

The Iranian businessman had earlier told Press TV that the German government imprisoned him without any reason and evidence and caused him severe psychological and financial damages.
