Iran, Sextet Conclude N. Talks, Next Round Slated for May 13th

VIENNA (Tasnim) - Iran’s top nuclear negotiator and foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton held a joint press conference in Vienna minutes ago, as Tehran and the six world powers concluded the latest round of nuclear talks on Wednesday.

A fresh round of nuclear talks between delegations representing Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), which began here in the Austrian capital on Tuesday morning, came to an end on Wednesday evening.

Following the two-day talks, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who led the team of Iranian negotiators, attended a joint news conference with the European Union foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, who represented the six world powers in the negotiations.

In the joint press conference, Ashton noted that the two sides have held “substantive and detailed discussions covering all the issues” that will be part of a comprehensive agreement.

She said the negotiating parties will move to the next step of the talks in which the sides “aim to bridge the gaps in all the key areas and work on the concrete elements of a possible comprehensive agreement.”

“Our next meeting will be here in Vienna form the 13th of May,” she noted.

The two sides have already held several rounds of talks with the aim of putting an end to the decade-long standoff on the Islamic Republic’s peaceful nuclear case.
