Iranian, US Negotiators Hold Bilateral Meeting in Vienna
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Austrian capital on Friday brought top negotiators from Iran and the US together for talks on how to proceed with drafting the text of a final nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in a bilateral meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns discussed the ways to draft a long-awaited nuclear agreement, which Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are trying to hammer out.
Prior to the meeting with Burns, Araqchi held a gathering with EU Deputy Foreign Policy Chief Helga Schmid.
Iran and the six powers officially opened the 6th round of nuclear negotiations in the Austrian capital city of Vienna on Thursday.
Coordinated by the European Union, the talks are aimed at resolving the decade-long standoff on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
The two sides have less than three weeks to clinch a deal by their self-imposed deadline for a deal of July 20.
The new round of talks will continue until at least July 15. If required, the parties would carry on consultations to the last moment on July 20.
