Syrian Army Makes Fresh Advances in Hama

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian army made fresh gains in the western province of Hama in its fight against the foreign-backed militants operating in the country.

Syrian army soldiers have recaptured a large area of the city of Morek in Hama, Press TV reported on Thursday.

Morek had become the main stronghold of the Takfiri groups in the province since it fell into the militants’ control.

The Syrian army has made many advances in recent months. On July 13, the Syrian army recaptured parts of the eastern town of Mulayhah after about 100 days of heavy fighting with militants in the area.

Takfiri terrorists have recently stepped up their attacks against civilians as Syrian army soldiers have achieved major victories in their battle against the foreign-backed militants.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. In all, nearly 3 million Syrians have crossed into neighboring Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and Jordan, while another 6.5 million remain displaced within Syria's borders.
