Iranian Wrestlers Win Two Bronzes in Youth Olympics

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian wrestlers Mohammad Reza Aghania and Keramat Abdevali won the bronze medals in the men’s Greco-Roman event at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

Mohammad Reza Aghania claimed a bronze medal in 50kg at the prestigious competition on Monday. The 16-year-old wrestler beat Algeria’s Houssam Bounasri 3-0 at the Longjiang Gymnasium in Nanjing, China.

Uzbekistan’s Ilkhom Bakhromov won the gold medal in the weight category after defeating Azerbaijan’s Jabbar Najafov in the final match.

Keramat Abdevali also claimed a bronze medal in the 58kg. Abdevali beat Alejandro Destribats Agustin from Argentina 3-1 in the bronze medal match.

Russian Arslan Zubairov seized the gold medal in the weight category, defeating Armenian Zaven Mikaelyan in the final.

The Iranian delegation wrapped up the 2014 Youth Olympic Games with three gold and three bronze medals.

Mahdi Eshaqi in the men’s -48 kg taekwondo, Kimia Alizadeh Zenoorin in the women’s -63 kg taekwondo event and Ramin Safaviyeh in the men’s -100 kg judo won the gold medals.

Danial Salehimehr also earned a bronze medal in the men’s -73 kg taekwondo.

Iran took part in the Youth Olympics with 16 athletes in swimming, judo, shooting, equestrian, athletic, taekwondo, beach volleyball, Greco-Roman and weightlifting.
