Commander Highlights Iran’s Ability to Repel Foreign Threats

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s high military preparedness has deterred the enemies from taking any action against the country, commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced Tuesday, and said a series of new defense achievements will be unveiled within the next few days.

“The IRGC, along with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army, has presented a very massive and actual ability for defense against the foreign threats,” Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said in a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

He said the country’s military readiness has had a deterrent effect, meaning that it has always dissuaded the adversaries from carrying out their threats.

The commander also praised the IRGC’s significant progress in the sphere of cyber technologies, stressing that even the enemies have acknowledged the country’s capability to counter the cyber threats.

As regards the new indigenous defense products, Major General Jafari said an air defense system, dubbed “Khordad 3”, will be unveiled during the military parades due to be held on September 22,  which marks the start of the Sacred Defense Week.

Khordad 3, manufactured by the IRGC experts, is an advanced air defense system with a proper working range and altitude which can protect the country’s skies in all circumstances, he added.

The commander also noted that a number of other achievements, including aerial, air defense and radar products, will be unveiled during the September 22 parades.

In Iran, the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war is known as the Sacred Defense, and Sacred Defense Week is held on the anniversary of the beginning of the war.

Sacred Defense Week begins on Shahrivar 31 in the Iranian calendar (September 22 this year), which is the day Iraq invaded Iran and began the imposed war on the country in 1980.

Each year, various units of the Iranian Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Iran’s Armed Forces, and the Islamic Republic of Iran Police participate in nationwide military parades to mark the event.
