Former Swedish FM Reaffirms Iran’s Commitment to Geneva Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Former Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt confirmed that Tehran has fulfilled its commitments under the Geneva Agreement (Joint Plan of Action).

“IAEA has confirmed that Iran has lived up to all its commitments under Joint Plan of Action says @JZarif. And that’s correct,” Bildt wrote on his Twitter account.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has frequently confirmed that Iran has honored its nuclear commitments under the Geneva deal.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on November 24, 2013, signed an interim nuclear deal in the Swiss city of Geneva.

Under the interim accord, the six nations agreed to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a limited period.

Since the breakthrough agreement (the Joint Plan of Action) came into effect on January 20, 2014, two deadlines for a final, comprehensive deal have been missed.

Tehran and the six countries now seek to reach detailed and comprehensive final deal by July 1.
