Zarif: Iran, Group 5+1 to Start Drafting Text of Final Nuclear Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said his men are going to meet diplomats from the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) in Vienna to begin drafting the text of a comprehensive agreement on Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Zarif said that after the Vienna talks, negotiations will resume next week on the sidelines of the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The Iranian minister said he will fly to New York on Sunday to attend the NPT Review Conference and join the nuclear talks.

Iran and the six powers are in talks to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's peaceful nuclear energy program.

On April 2, the two sides reached a framework nuclear agreement after more than a week of intensive negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.
