US Shooting Leaves 2 Dead, 1 Critically Injured

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A gunman has fatally shot a female news director for ABC/FOX Montana and her male family friend, before shooting himself in the head, in an apparent double murder-suicide attempt in the US state of Montana, police said.

The incident occurred when the gunman opened fire on Anthony Dupras, 46 and Kalee Scolatti, 34 at her home in Missoula neighborhood, police spokesman Travis Welsh said Thursday.

It is not clear what their relationship to the shooter was.

"Now we're in the process of trying to determine a motive and a reason for it,” Welsh said. “Also trying to determine the origin of the weapon."

Scolatti, a mother of two, was reportedly at home with the shooter when she called Dupras and asked him to come over.

"There are numerous unanswered questions. And unfortunately there's nobody that was involved that's in a position to tell us what happened. So we are trying to piece together, as best we can, the chain of events that's led up to what we discovered at 6:40 yesterday afternoon," Welsh said.

The gunman then turned gun on himself and wounded himself.

As of Thursday morning, he remained in a critical condition with a gunshot wound in the head, according to police, Press TV reported.

Scolatti, grew up in Missoula and graduated from the University of Montana Journalism school in 2005. While at college, she secured an internship at ABC/FOX Montana. In January this year, she was promoted to news director.
