Massive Protest Rallies in Saudi Arabia after Mosque Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Following a couple of terrorist attacks on Shiite mosques, people in Qatif and Dammam, in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, took to the streets on Friday in protest at the Saudi regime's failure to provide security for its citizens.

The protest rallies were held hours after a terrorist bombing on a Shiite mosque in Dammam killed four people in the second case of such attacks in two weeks.

During the massive rallies, the citizens of Qatif expressed their solidarity with their compatriots in Dammam, Al-Alam TV reported.

Those who took part in Dammam protests also called on the Saudi authorities to protect the lives of the citizens instead of fanning the flames of sedition in state media.

The Friday attack in Dammam happened shortly after noon outside the Imam Hussein mosque.

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a statement posted on Twitter by its supporters.

It happened a week after another ISIL suicide bombing at a Shiite mosque killed 21 people in the same province last Friday.
