President: Iran after Serious Talks, Fair Nuclear Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated his administration's determination to continue "serious" negotiations with six world powers over Tehran's peaceful nuclear energy program until a fair agreement is reached between the two sides.

Speaking in and address to a number of Iranian politicians during an iftar dinner on Wednesday, Rouhani touched upon the latest developments in the nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), saying, "We are after serious talks and a fair and just agreement."

The president further said Iran will not let delay or hurriedness in the talks harm the country's national interests.

"We are seeking to defend the nation’s rights through dialogue and interaction," he went on to say.

The remarks came as the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 are currently underway in Vienna, Austria.

In the latest round of negotiations, Iran's senior negotiators Seyed Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi held a meeting with EU's Deputy Foreign Policy Chief Helga Maria Schmid on Wednesday afternoon.

The talks are aimed at hammering out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's civilian nuclear program.

On April 2, the two sides reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.
