Putin Confirms Russian Position on Syria in Conversation With Obama

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Barack Obama exchanged opinions on regulating the Syrian crisis in a telephone conversation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

Russia confirmed its position during the conversation, the Kremlin spokesman said.

Obama said on Monday that he believed that the situation in Syria could only be regulated by forming a new government without President Bashar Assad.

The US president added that he voiced his views on the matter in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart.

"Indeed, an exchange of opinions on this matter took place. The Russian position is well known, and it was voiced again by the president during this conversation," Peskov told journalists, Sputnik reported on Tuesday.
