Commander: Syria to Emerge Victorious against Foreign-Backed Terrorists

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – A top Syrian commander expressed confidence that his country would finally achieve victory over the terrorist groups in the war-stricken country.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Syria's army, officially the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), Brigadier General Mohsen Shiekh al-Yassin offered his congratulations on the occasion and hailed the army's achievements in its fight against terrorists.

Syria will emerge victorious in the battle against foreign-backed insurgents and when this happens, the victory would belong to all those who are on the Resistance Front, he stressed.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Syrian commander praised Iran for its supports for the Arab country and said "the friendly and brotherly" nation has spared no effort to help Syria achieve its objectives.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.

The US and its regional allies have been supporting the militants operating inside Syria for more than four years.
