Iran Progresses to Asian Volleyball Championship Final
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran earned a narrow victory over China in the semifinals of the Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship on Friday.
The Iranian team defeated China 3-2 (25–21, 25–20, 9–25,19–25,14–16) in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
“I congratulate the Iranian fans who came here to the stadium and supported us. We know Japan is a strong team but we are going to keep the trophy in Iran,” Iran coach Peyman Akbari said in the post-match news conference.
Elsewhere, Japan defeated Qatar 3-1 (22–25, 25–23, 25–17, 25–23) to book a place in the final.
The Iranian team will play Japan on Saturday while Qatar and China will face together in the bronze medal match.
