FIBA Asia Championship: Iran Outscores South Korea
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran basketball team defeated South Korea 75-62 in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship quarterfinals on Thursday.
The starting frontline of Hamed Haddadi and Oshin Sahakian did much of the damage for the Iranians, combining for 30 points and 21 rebounds, while starting shooting guard Hamed Afagh added 11 points and 3 triples.
On the other end, Korea drew 10 points each from Kim Jong-Kyu and Moon Tae-Young.
Iran will play winner of China and India match on Friday.
The 2015 FIBA Asia Championship for Men is the 28th continental basketball championship in Asia. The competition is being held in Changsha, China from September 23 to October 3.
The winner of the tournament qualifies for the basketball tournament on the 2016 Summer Olympics, while the next three best teams will participate at the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Men, as stated by FIBA and the IOC in qualification quota.
