Commander Lambastes Double-Standard Policies against Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Gholam Ali Rashid lashed out at the double-standard policies adopted toward Iran on such cases as human rights and nuclear issue, describing them as mere pretexts.

“The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is closely monitoring Iran’s nuclear sites, but have they inspected Israel’s Dimona nuclear site?” General Rashid asked.

Today, Iran has uranium enrichment of under 5 percent, while the Zionist regime of Israel is enriching uranium to more than 90 percent and makes nuclear bombs, he noted.

The senior military official also slammed the limitations imposed on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear energy program.

“The nuclear issue and human rights are merely pretexts,” General Rashid said, stressing that those raising such issues against Iran actually have problems with Islam.

The Iranian commander further said that the recent nuclear deal with world powers does not imply that Tehran’s policies in the region would get in line with those of hegemonic powers, the US in particular.

“Our opposition with the US is not just based on geographical interests, but on the conflict between Islam and infidelity,” General Rashid said.

He also underscored that the US will not be allowed back into Iran.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has in many cases noted that US hostility towards the Iranian nation will never end, stressing that the Islamic Republic’s struggle against the arrogance is backed by logic and reason.

While many consider the nuclear deal- known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)- a major breakthrough in the improvement of ties between Iran and the West, the Leader has already made it clear that Tehran’s policy toward the US will remain unchanged regardless of the ultimate fate of the JCPOA.
