Asian Qualification Tournament: Iran Handball Loses to Qatar
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran was defeated against Qatar in Group B of the 2015 Asian Qualification Tournament on Friday.
In the match held at the Duhail Handball Sports Hall in Doha, the Qatari handball team beat Iran 32-17.
Iran will play Saudi Arabia on Sunday in Group B.
The Iranian team started the campaign with a 39-31 win over Oman on Saturday.
Irfan Smajlagic’s men then defeated Uzbekistan 33-18 on Monday.
The team also beat Japan 31-27 on Wednesday.
The event kicked off in Doha, Qatar, on November 14 and will finish on November 23.
The gold medal winner in the competition will qualify for the Olympics.
The handball tournament at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will consist of twelve men and women teams each.
