Iran Keeping Close Watch on Terrorist Groups: IRGC Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari highlighted the country’s full intelligence control over the activities of terrorist groups, one day after two terror cells were smashed in Iran.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Sunday, the top commander said the Daesh (ISIL) Takfiri terrorist group has been attempting to cause insecurity in the country for a long time, but its plots have been thwarted thanks to the intelligence supremacy of Iran’s security organizations and people’s cooperation.

The IRGC chief noted that terrorist groups employ “diverse logistic networks”.

According to Major General Jafari, Iran maintains a close watch on all terrorist groups and will take action against them at the appropriate time.

Earlier on Saturday, the Intelligence Ministry said it smashed two terrorist cells that had plotted to carry out bombings in two southeastern and northwestern provinces of Iran.

The one busted in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan had plans to insecure roads near the city of Iranshahr by detonating up to 150 kilograms of explosives, an official announced.
