TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A recent agreement signed between the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and French oil major Total in Paris has not been finalized yet, an Iranian source said.

"The accord agreed on with the French company Total is a declaration of intent and no other agreement has been reached yet. Time has been allocated for talks so that a final agreement could be reached," a source at Iran’s Oil Ministry told Sputnik on Friday.

The source further said that Tehran is also in talks with Russian energy company Lukoil for oil trade.

Total reportedly plans to buy between 150,000 and 200,000 barrels of Iranian crude a day under an accord that was signed Thursday during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s trip to Paris.

President Rouhani and his 120-strong delegation of business leaders and cabinet ministers were in Paris on Wednesday and Thursday.

Iran and France signed 20 documents on mutual cooperation in different areas during the visit.

After Italy, France was the last leg of Rouhani’s first foreign trip after the JCPOA took effect on January 16.
