Iran’s Military Self-Sufficiency Inspired by Revolution: Armed Forces

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Armed Forces General Staff described the country’s self-sufficiency in the military sphere as a major achievement of the Islamic Revolution.

Iran’s defensive might, the Armed Force’s deterrent power and the country’s progress in the military industry are all inspired by the Revolution and the Islamic Establishment, the Armed Forces General Staff said in a statement on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The statement also referred to the Islamic Republic as a leading power in the region and a player with ultra-regional influence that continues to achieve progress by sticking to its values and aspirations.

It further called on the Iranian people from all walks of life to take part in the nationwide rallies due to be held on February 11 to celebrate the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 36 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Revolution, led by the late Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

Every year Iranians mark anniversary of their Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies. February 1, 1979 was the date when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned from exile.
