No Slowdown in Iran’s Nuclear Progress: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi dismissed the notion that there will be any damage to the structure of the country’s nuclear industry due to certain restrictions that Iran has approved of under a lasting nuclear deal with world powers.

It is necessary to stress that the limitations which Iran has agreed to in the course of nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) will by no means cause any damage to the structure of the country’s nuclear industry, Kamalvandi said in a statement on Wednesday.

On the contrary, he added, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has provided good grounds for Iran to launch bilateral and multilateral cooperation with advanced countries to obtain their latest achievements in the nuclear technology.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as the P5+1 or E3+3) finalized the text of a lasting agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program in Vienna on July 14, 2015 after months of negotiations.

The 159-page JCPOA, which took effect in January this year, has subjected the parties to comply with a series of commitments, resulting in the termination of all nuclear-related sanctions on Iran in exchange for certain restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear program during a defined period of time.
