Ayatollah Khamenei Asks Nation to Vote, Raise Iran’s Dignity

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called on the Iranian nation on Friday morning to attend the ongoing elections to boost the country’s honor and strengthen its independence.

“Anyone who loves Iran, who loves the Islamic Republic, who loves national glory, dignity and grandeur, should take part in the elections,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated in Tehran, after casting ballots in the parliamentary and the Assembly of Experts elections.

The Leader also recommended the voters to attend the polls with the intention of doing a divine duty, helping elevate the country’s position and securing its independence.

Imam Khamenei also underlined that the Iranian nation’s vigilance and prudence in the elections should disappoint the enemies.

Polls have opened on Friday morning for the parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections, being held simultaneously across Iran, and are scheduled to be closed in 10 hours unless the voting time is extended upon the Interior Ministry's decision.

Some 54.9 million Iranians are eligible to cast their votes in the two elections.
