Russian Diplomat to Visit Iran for Regional Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin will pay a visit to Iran in early March for diplomatic talks revolving around the Caspian Sea, Central Asia and the Caucasus, Russia said Saturday.

According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Karasin will travel to Iran on March 2 for a two-day visit.

The Russian diplomat is going to meet his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Rahimpour to discuss a range of regional and international issues, from the Caspian Sea to the process of implementation of the Minsk Deal on peace in Ukraine.

Successive meetings between Iranian and Russian diplomats have become regular over the past months, particularly after Russia joined the coalition of Iran, Syria, Iraq and Hezbollah in the fight against Takfiri terrorism in Syria.

Tehran and Moscow, known as the main allies of Syria, have redoubled efforts in recent months to find a solution to the crisis that has plagued the Arab country for five years.
