Asian Water Polo Junior Championship: Iran Celebrates First Win

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran celebrated its first win at the 5th Asian Water Polo Junior Championship on Friday.

The Iranian team defeated host Indonesia 19-13.

Aleksandar Ciric’s team started the competition with a 13-10 loss to Kazakhstan and was held to a 12-12 against Japan.

Iran will play China on Sunday.

The tournament has brought Indonesia, Iran, China, Japan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan together.

The Asian Water Polo Junior Championship, which started on July 21 in Indonesia, runs until July 27.

The competitions will also be as a Qualification Tournament for choosing Asian representatives to attend in FINA World Junior Championship (20 years & under) in 2017.
