FIBA Asia U-18 Championship: Iran Defeats Kazakhstan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran beat Kazakhstan 90-59 in Day 2 of the 24th FIBA Asia U-18 Championship on Saturday.

Mohammad Jafari picked up 25 points for Iran and Kazakhstan’s Nikita Timofeyev collected 15 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.

The competition is being held in Tehran, Iran from July 22 to 31.

Iran had defeated Indonesia 106-40 in its opening match of Group B on Friday.

Iran will meet Japan on Sunday.

The twelve participating teams have been into groups of two as follows:
Group A: China, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, India, Iraq, Thailand.
Group B: Iran, South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Lebanon.

The top four teams from each group will advance to the Quarter-Final.

The top three teams from the 24th FIBA Asia U-18 Championship will represent Asia at the 2017 FIBA U-19 World Championship.
