Syrian Forces Make Advances near Aleppo

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syrian Army troops, backed by voluntary forces, liberated more territories near the city of Aleppo in their large-scale military offensive to recapture the strategic northern city from terrorist groups.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the Syrian forces, who are closing in on terrorists from the southern parts of Aleppo, received fresh logistical support on Monday night and managed to liberate two areas in the southwestern suburbs of the city.

The Syrian forces also flushed fighters of the Jaish al-Fatah terrorist group out of residential areas south of Aleppo.

Reports also suggest that large parts of Handarat Camp in north of Aleppo were recaptured from terrorists on Tuesday morning, and the whole site, in which the US-backed terrorists recently beheaded a 12-year-old Palestinian boy, is expected to be fully liberated within a couple of hours.

Lands in the camp were retaken after heavy clashes with the terrorist groups, while the Syrian artillery and Russian fighter jets continue targeting the militants amid the operation.

According to Syrian media, dozens of civilians have started using newly opened humanitarian corridors to leave the terrorist-held parts of Aleppo.

Evacuation of people from Aleppo is the first reported movement of people since Russia announced a plan to open up safe passages on Thursday.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
