Austrian Airlines to Launch Flight Services to Iran’s Isfahan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Austrian Airlines, a Lufthansa subsidiary, plans to add new flights to Iran’s central province of Isfahan.

Austrian Airlines said in a statement that it plans to launch 3X-weekly Vienna-Isfahan services from September 4, Air Transport World website reported recently.

Vienna-Isfahan services will become 4X-weekly starting from summer 2017, it added.

Isfahan will be the second destination of the Austrian flights after Tehran’s services, which were launched back in March.

Austrian Airlines will operate up to 17 weekly flights to Iran as of September 2016.

In September 2015, Iranian president met his Austrian counterpart on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where they exchanged views on bilateral relations, with President Rouhani emphasizing the need for removal of anti-Iran sanctions imposed by the European Union.

It came following the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear deal Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached on July 14, 2015.

The agreement came into force on January 16, 2016 and terminated all nuclear-related anti-Iran sanctions.

Since then European countries, among others, have shown great keenness to broaden ties with Iran in various spheres.
