Iran’s Baku Envoy Honored with Award for Media Activities

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Press Council of the Azerbaijan Republic awarded an honorary sign to Iran's Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakayeen for his contribution to media relations between the two nations.

In a meeting in Baku, attended by representatives from 20 most circulated Azeri newspapers, the Iranian ambassador was admired for his efforts to stimulate effective media relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.

Eflatun Amasov, a lawmaker and head of the Press Council of Azerbaijan, hailed Pakayeen for his “positive” approach to media contacts, saying such interaction has brought the two countries closer together and has helped clear up misunderstandings.

Amasov also called for efforts to strengthen media interaction by offering training courses, exchanging delegations and holding athletic competitions.

In late August, Azerbaijan’s Trend News Agency reported that Iran’s new ambassador to Baku will succeed Pakayeen in a few weeks.

Iran and Azerbaijan have accelerated efforts in recent years to forge closer partnership in various areas.

Back in February, Aliyev paid an official visit to Tehran, during which the two sides signed eleven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements to promote mutual cooperation in a range of fields.
