Syrian Army Closing In around Terrorists in Douma

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syrian military forces are making steady progress in surrounding terrorists in the city of Douma and have retaken areas only three kilometers away from Jaysh al-Islam terrorist group’s biggest stronghold in the city.

The advances by Syrian troops have sent the terrorist groups in Douma, northeast of capital Damascus, into a panic.

The Syrian forces are reportedly at a distance of only three kilometers from Douma and have taken control of all the routes used by the terrorist groups.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
