Iranian VP Due in Germany to Discuss Environmental Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of Iran’s Environmental Protection Organization (IEPO) is planned to visit Berlin to hold talks with senior German officials on ways to promote mutual cooperation between the two countries in various environmental areas.

Masoumeh Ebtekar, who is also an Iranian vice president, will leave for Germany later on Tuesday to sign a document related to cooperation framework between the IEPO and Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, a high-ranking official at the IEPO said.

The official added that during her two-day trip to Germany, Ebtekar will pay visits to BASF SE, the largest chemical producer in the world headquartered in Ludwigshafen, and Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.

Ebtekar is also slated to meet with German Minister of Environment Barbara Hendricks, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Parliament Vice-President Claudia Roth.

She will also attend a conference on introducing cooperation opportunities with German companies on environmental issues.
