Shots Fired Near Iran’s Ankara Embassy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkish security forces fired several warning shots outside the Iranian embassy building in Ankara in the wee hours of Monday, reports said.

According to IRIB, at least 12 shots are believed to have been fired at a checkpoint near Iran’s embassy to give warning to a suspicious vehicle.

The incident came a few weeks after Turkey's state of emergency was extended by another three months.

Turkey imposed the first state of emergency in July, after a failed coup by a group of military officers.

Iran’s northwestern neighbor has been hit by several terrorist attacks over the past months, most notably a deadly attack on the Istanbul airport that killed scores of people in late June.
