Syrian Army Continues Operations around Aleppo, Damascus

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syria’s army, backed by volunteer forces, continued to make gains in its military campaign against terrorist groups in Aleppo, clearing several areas of the militants in the northwestern city.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the army troops and their allies made advances toward northwestern parts of Khan Sheikh and southwestern areas of Zakiyah in Aleppo on Tuesday, killing and injuring large groups of the Takfiri militants.

During the clashes, the Syrian forces targeted the remaining strongholds of the terrorists and flushed them out of their hiding places.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian forces repelled a major attack by the terrorists in Deir Khaibah district, in western suburbs of Damascus, leaving large groups of them dead or injured.

Also, three tanks as well as three vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns were destroyed in the process of the operation.

The conflict in Syria, which flared up in March 2011, has claimed the lives of more than 400,000 people, according to an estimate by UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
