Syria Army Recaptures Town in Hama

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syria’s army, backed by volunteer forces, liberated a town in the west-central province of Hama in their latest push to win back areas held by foreign-sponsored Takfiri terrorists.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the army troops on Thursday managed to reestablish control over Souran in the northern countryside of Hama.

The recapture of the town came after the Syrian forces targeted the terrorists’ positions in northern and southern parts of Souran, killing scores of them.

The army troops are now working to defuse the explosive devices and mines left behind by terrorist groups across the area.

The latest developments come as reports suggest that major Takfiri groups fighting in Syria are fractured more than anytime as they are struggling to close ranks in the face of army advances on various fronts.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
