Iran’s FM Holds High-Profile Meetings in Romania

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held meetings with top Romanian officials in Bucharest as part of his East European tour.

In one of the gatherings on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Zarif and Romanian President Klaus Werner Iohannis discussed a range of issues, with the focus on stronger economic ties between Tehran and Bucharest.

The top Iranian diplomat also met separately with Speaker of Romania's Chamber of Deputies Florin Iordache for talks about the latest regional and international developments and mutual cooperation, particularly parliamentary ties, between the two countries.

In his last official meeting before leaving Romania for Slovakia, Zarif held talks with Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos.

They explored avenues for bilateral cooperation in various fields, from energy to banking ties, as well as implementing the previous agreements between the two countries.

The Iranian foreign minister has travelled to Bratislava in the second leg of a tour that will later take him to the Czech Republic.
