Iran’s DM Urges Muslim Unity against Zionism, Terrorism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In congratulatory messages to his Muslim counterparts on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan emphasized the need for Muslim unity in the face of Zionism and terrorism, and for joint action against instability.

In separate messages to defense ministers of the Islamic countries on Friday, the Iranian general called on the Muslim nations to join hands for countering “destabilizing factors” which pose a threat to calm and security in the Islamic world and to international peace and stability.

The minister also stressed the need for Muslim solidarity against Zionism and terrorism.

The 17th day of the lunar month of Rabi al-Awwal marks the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadeq (AS), the sixth Shiite imam.

The holy occasion is celebrated by some 1.6 billion followers of Islam in the world, who make up over 23% of the world population.
