TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Borut Macek has been appointed as Iran handball coach on Wednesday for the third time.

The 51-year-old Slovenian coach has reached an agreement with the Iranian federation.

Under leadership of Macek, Iran won the silver medal of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

Macek will head of Team Melli in the 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship, where Iran has been pitted against Japan and Iraq in Group A.

The competition, which will be held in Seoul, South Korea, acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship.

The Slovenian has already coached Bahrain and Qatar in the world championship.
