Shahdab 4th at 2023 Asian Club Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Shahdab Yazd of Iran lost to Police of Qatar 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19) on Sunday in the 2023 Asian Club Volleyball Championship bronze medal match.

Shahdab had finished in third place in the last year’s competition hosted by Tehran, where Paykan won the title after beating Suntory 3-2 in the final.

Shahdab started the competition with three wins over South Gas of Iraq, Afghanistan’s Kam Air and Taichung Bank of Chinese Taipei and then defeated Kuwait SC in the next stage but suffered three successive losses against Police (twice) and Suntory of Japan.

Japanese team Suntory Sunbirds defeated Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi of Indonesia 3-1 in the final match.

The 23rd Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship started on May 14 in Manama, Bahrain and finished on May 21.

Suntory, as champion, qualified for the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship.
