IRGC Busts Terrorist Team in Iran’s Southeastern Province

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A four-strong terrorist team was smashed by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ (IRGC) forces in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

The public relations office of the IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Base said in a statement that the team’s four members have been arrested.

“A team from a terrorist grouplet affiliated to the world arrogance that had plans for carrying out acts of sabotage and terrorist operations in the country’s southeastern region has been busted with complicated intelligence and operational measures before carrying out its plans,” it said in a statement.

The statement added that four members of the terrorist team were arrested.

Six weapons and a large amount of ammunition have been confiscated from the terror cell, it went on to say.

Since a couple of years ago, the IRGC has been tasked with ensuring the security of southeastern border areas in cooperation with local residents.

Located in the southeast of Iran, Sistan and Balouchestan borders Pakistan and Afghanistan and has a long coastline by the Sea of Oman.
