Iran to Construct 9 Petrochemical Parks to Boost Production: CEO

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chief executive of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company said on Sunday that nine petrochemical parks will be constructed in Chabahar, Jask, Sirik, Parsian, Naiband, Assaluyeh, Dashtestan and Genaveh, Deylam, Omidieh and the Arvand Free Zone.

Some $5.5 billion in investment is needed for the construction operation of the aforementioned petrochemical parks, Abdolali Aliaskari said, adding, “If these petrochemical parks are put into operation, 4.65 million tons of petrochemicals will be produced annually with a yielding of $6.9 billion foreign exchange.”

In addition, the construction of these petrochemical parks will generate direct employment for 12,885 job-seeking people and also indirect jobs for 71,000 people, Ali Askari underlined.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he stated that the annual capacity of production of petrochemicals at the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company has increased by about 1.2 million tons in the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023), showing a 9.5 percent growth compared to a year earlier.

Attaining the highest production record, amounting to 23.2 million tons, in the current year, commissioning the Hoveyzeh Refinery of the Persian Gulf, operating the olefin project in Gachsaran are among the most important achievements of the company this year, the CEO of the company added.
