Yousefi Snatches Gold at 2023 Junior World Weightlifting C’ships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Alireza Yousefi of Iran claimed a gold medal at the 2023 Junior World Weightlifting Championships.
He won the gold medal in the +109 kg with 420 kg (180+240), while his teammate Taha Nemati set a youth world record in the second place to complete a strong finish by Iran at the World Junior Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Nemati won a silver by lifting 176 kg in snatch and 205 kg in clean and jerk for a total of 381 kg.
Slovakia’s Vladimir Macura won the bronze medal (168-191-359).
Iran has sent 10 weightlifters to the Championships, held from November 15 to 23.
A total of 229 lifters from 44 countries have taken part in the 2023 IWF World Junior Weightlifting Championships.
